Maid Marian And The Lawman
by Deb Stover

Read first chapter here: https://debstover.com/maidmarian.html

"Robin Hoodwinked! A family in America's Old West struggles to survive in Deb Stover's jaunty homage to the denizens of Sherwood Forest." ~BookPage

"Deb Stover's ingenuity and cleverness soar in this heartwarming 'Robin Hood with a twist' story where family loyalty takes center stage. Ms Stover has proven her ability as a storyteller in paranormal venues and moves into historical romance with the same remarkable talents. Here is a story that makes readers believe in the power of family and love. Stolen Wishes proves that 'family' is not just blood ties, but also the love that binds people. Let yourself be held in the comfort of Deb Stover's 'feel-good' gem of a romance."
~Kathe Robin, RT Book Reviews,
Top Pick & Reviewers' Choice Award Winner

At thirteen, Mary Goode rescued her brother, Robin, and two of his friends from an asylum and escaped with them to Indian Territory. They make a simple home, and Robin creates his make-believe Sherwood Forest. To the delicate young woman dubbed Maid Marian, Robin's storybook fantasies seem a harmless game. But as eight years pass, Mary longs for more. And now, a stranger enters their secluded haven--a man with the power to shatter their safety or answer Mary's most passionate prayers. U.S. Marshal Shane Latimer is hard on the heels of robbers when a spooked horse and a snake bite lands him on his back, and in the middle of an eccentric band of forest dwellers. Though these gentle folk save his life and nurse him back to health, Shane has orders to bring the thieves to justice. But will knowing the truth mean choosing between duty and love?

~Terrie Figueroa, Romance Reviews Today

"Put quite simply, this is an outstanding read, one that happened to
get this reviewer out of her reading slump. Brava, Ms. Stover.
Long live the western historical romance!"
~Maudeen Wachsmith,  www.whatimreading.com

"This is Deb Stover at her very best! This story has it all - action, adventure, mystery and most of all not one but several romances intertwined in this most amazing book. Oh and the love scenes just sizzle!"
~Kathy Boswell, The Best  Reviews

"This tale is one frolicking adventure after another. If you’re not laughing, you’re weeping. Ms. Stover has penned a remarkable journey that will leave its mark upon your heart."
~Old Book Barn Gazette

"From beginning to ending this story could not be a more perfect romance. It has love, compassion, depth, as I said PERFECT. Molly Riordan and Dirk Ballinger will have you cheering for more, as you experience their love as well as the six other characters' love as the complete tale unfolds. Dirk is one hero who will bring back the hope in your heart simply because he has the biggest heart in the world. Don't miss this extraordinary story. Ms. Stover once again brings in another FANTASTIC read!!!
5 Bells!!!"
~Donita Lawrence, Bell, Book, & Candle

"The high mountains and passes of Colorado are NO PLACE FOR A LADY in Deb Stover's latest achievement. Webs of deception and delightful conundrums result in a passionate romance with marvelous depth. The secondary plots weave a complexity that reflects and strengthens the main plot with powerful characterizations and startling details. Indeed, Stover is a writer of graceful imagination and intense passion, creating masterful work romance lovers will find enchanting. Sexy and irresistible, NO PLACE FOR A LADY comes very highly recommended." ~Cindy  Penn, WordWeaving

"A riveting, fast-paced historical romance from an author who knows how to dream up stories to touch the heart. Ms. Stover pits a hot tempered, enderaring heroine against an honorable, sexy hero and lets the sparks fly. She then surrounds them with lively characters, an exciting plot, lots of surprises, and hot passionate love scenes. This book is impossible to put down and the characters hard to forget. Do not pass this one up."
~ Rendezvous

"I got a Rocky Mountain High after reading Deb Stover’s NO PLACE FOR A LADY. It’s fresh, exciting and has more twists and turns and surprises than a rattlesnake. Expect not one but three romances. Oh boy! It’s a humdinger of a story you never want to end."

Robin Hoodwinked On Kindle!

Maid Marian and The Lawman by Deb Stover cover art
Maid Marian and The Lawman by Deb Stover
Now available for your Kindle and a beautiful trade paperback wherever books are sold! Don't see it? Please, order!

This book has always been a work of love for me. They all are, but some more than others. Maid Marian and The Lawman comes from my personal experience of raising a loving family with my late husband that includes both our birth and adopted children of varied races and abilities. We have loved all our children equally and unconditionally.

The secondary characters of Robin and Sunshine in this story will touch your heart--at least I hope they will. I have a Sunshine singing right down the hall from me as I type. In fact, this book is dedicated to her. I think you'll know why when you read it.

I have uploaded the first chapter here for your review.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Yule, Merry Solstice, and  Happy Happy.... :)

Love,
Deb

Maid Marian and The Lawman

I love new releases and new cover art. Yay! This month I celebrate both just in time for the holidays.

In 1999, Kensington Books released a historical very special to me titled Stolen Wishes. It went on to win a Reviewer's Choice Award from Romantic Times Magazine (now RT Book Reviews), and several Readers' Choice Awards. Since then, I have revised and polished this project, and the wonderful Deborah Smith at Bell Bridge Books deemed it special enough to be reincarnated as Maid Marian and The Lawman.

I couldn't be more honored!

The cover is stunning, and my editor also happens to be one of my favorite authors. So if you think I'm giddy with delight, you are correct.

This book has always been a work of love for me. They all are, but some more than others. Maid Marian and The Lawman comes from my personal experience of raising a loving family with my late husband that includes both our birth and adopted children of varied races and abilities. I have uploaded the first chapter here for your review, and the book should be available before Christmas. I will post the buy links and ordering information as soon as I have it.

Meanwhile, happy reading, and may all your days include a bit of magic!

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Yule, Merry Solstice, and  Happy Happy.... :)

Four Freebies!

It's snowing like crazy here in Colorado, but that's okay since we need the moisture and I have a deadline.  That means I have no choice but to stay home. :)

Beginning at 12:01 AM tomorrow--okay, a bit after midnight tonight, I guess--I will have 4 books free at Kindle.  One title--MULLIGAN STEW--will be free at both Kindle and iBooks.  You'll find info and links at http://www.debstover.com/books.html .

Oh, about that deadline....  To those of you who have been badgering--yes, you have--me for more than a decade to write US Marshal Sam Weathers into his own story, that's what I'm doing.  It's a novella, but he is the hero.  The title is "Play It Again, Sam," and it will be included in the next Novelist Inc anthology.  Stay tuned for more details.

Meanwhile, here's the blurb about the freebies, if you want to share.  Go for it.

12:01 AM Feb 22-midnight Feb 26, award-winning author @debstover offers 4 titles FREE! Details & links at http://www.debstover.com/books.html. Dare to read "The Galileo of Romance!"

Happy reading!

No Place For A Lady

No  Place For A Lady is back in print--digitally speaking.  This book is available on Amazon now, and will show up at iBooks, Barnes & Noble, etc. as well.  Check my website for those links.  This book is a historical romance set in 1888 Colorado, in what is now Rocky Mountain National Park.  The research was a lot of fun.  :)  There is still an excerpt at my website here, along with the original cover, which is still my favorite.

Happy reading!

Passing of Greatness

All of the Fantasy anthologies in which I have published stories over the years have two things in common:  Denise Little--the brilliant editor who bought my first four books for Kensington in the last century--and Martin H. Greenberg of TEKNO Books.  After Denise left Kensington and traditional publishing in Manhattan, she landed in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where one of the most creative and open-minded editors, writers, and anthologists in the Mystery, Science Fiction and Fantasy genres was unabashedly making a name for himself and many smalltime authors--like me--one idea at a time.

Marty Greenberg died yesterday, but his work will live on through the countless projects he helped create, and through the authors who will never forget him or the opportunities he brought into our lives and careers.

RIP, Marty.   I have a hunch, wherever you are, you're breaking a few rules and doing things your way.

Hero's Name

As some of you may recall, the hero in my novel, SOME LIKE IT HOTTER, is named Mike Faricy.  Well, I met a real Mike Faricy at a conference some years ago, when he came in and demanded why I had written a book about him.  After I assured him it was purely coincidental, he left happy with an autographed book.  :)  Since then, I've met yet another Mike Faricy, who is also an author in his own right.  He said anytime someone googles his books, they end up finding my SOME LIKE IT HOTTER instead of him.  So I've vowed to help readers find his books, too.  :)

Here's a link to a recent interview with him:

http://lauries-interviews.blogspot.com/2011/05/spotlight-interview-with-mike-faricy.html

He lives part of the year stateside, and part in Ireland, and we've become Facebook penpals.  He seems like a stand-up guy, and certainly has a good sense of humor.  I even mentioned that I could change the hero's name when I reissued SLIH, but he nixed that idea.

Perhaps he likes being the hero of a romance novel, fighting against evil--AKA Slick Dawson--or he just wants to spend more time with the heroine, Abigail Kingsley.  :-)

As my late husband always said, whatever works. ;-)

SOME LIKE IT HOTTER is now available for Kindle, Kobo, Sony, Nook, and--soon--iBooks.  So is A WILLING SPIRIT, and SHADES OF ROSE will be very soon.  Check my website for details.

Happy Reading!

Some Like It Hotter back on Kindle

It's alive again at Amazon Kindle as of today!  Thanks for your patience.

Blurb:
"Natchez detective, Mike Faricy, is living a nightmare. First, his partner and best friend is killed in a shootout. Then a strange man appears at the precise moment Mike offers to sell his soul in exchange for his partner's life. Before Mike can blink, the man promises him the chance to change June 19th, the day before the killing. Who can blame him for at least trying? But he should have read the fine print. Now Mike is facing Abigail Kingsley--a knockout woman in Civil War-era garb who insists it is June 19th, all right...1865! A man out of time. A woman out of options. Time-travel Romance at its very best!"

Dirty Harry meets Scarlett O'Hara and there's hell to pay....

They stood facing each other beneath the stars, and Abigail wondered if these feelings were the sort of thing poets knew when they penned beautiful, heartrending words.  She felt so strange, as if she and Mike were no longer of this world.  They were with the stars, suspended apart from pain and reality.
           Safe.
His breathing grew louder and mingled with her own as the seconds ticked by.  Though he still hadn't touched her, she felt him, felt a power emanating from him and into her.  An invisible bond spanned the distance between them, drawing her to him unlike anything she'd ever known or even dreamed of.
She could almost see it--this magical force that drew her to him.  Her insides ached and throbbed, empty and weeping for him.  "Mike."  His name was barely more than a strangled whisper, torn from her lips by desperation and a need so raw and fierce she felt she might die from it.
           Then he touched her.
